SHO Gallery is proud to open an exciting fall season with an exhilarating two person show starring Rainy Lehrman and Flint Weisser. This exhibit will open on the evening of Thursday, Sept. 23rd, and runs through Sunday, October 10th.

Rainy Lehrman's new work exposes the provisional appearance of solid matter, its
tendency to shift, slump, crack, swell and split under the influence of time and gravity. By pairing materials of disparate physical properties together she establishes a constantly evolving relationship, one in which the inherent nature of an element works to alter, contrast, enhance, stabilize or degrade another. In these works, the exterior deceptively defines the whole while the interior directly alters the outer shell. Lehrman's work surveys the process of that relationship and the nature of its harmony or discord.

Flint Weisser's latest works have been exploring our relationship to technology and science, facilitated by creating devices which illustrate or make use of the first fundamental force of physics, electromagnetism. His Magnetic Field Drawings are created through the manipulation of magnetic fields to create marks and compositions. The drawings are created either through the arranging of powerful neodymium magnets, or through the alteration and modification of a weak magnetic field by a stronger one. The idea comes from a grade school science experiment where a piece of paper is placed on top of a magnet, iron filings are then sprinkled onto the paper. The filings display the invisible fields emanating from the magnets.
